Rich delicious chocolate and a crunchy cone. Sunshine, golden sand and turquoise sea. Gentle, rolling wavelets, sails beating, birds gliding, blue, blue sky. Every sense alerted. Sand between toes, colour everywhere. The cries of children in cool water the smell of chocolate and seaweed the taste – ah, the taste – of luxurious ice cream.
Saturday morning.
What a way to spend it. Away from the bustle of city streets, the hum of traffic, the canned music. The clink of money and cash registers, the laden trolleys, fractious children, no parking. Such scenes are far away.
We have broken free. Not for long. Just a couple of hours. But the delights of ice cream and beach, sun and shade, laughter and joy, warmth and cold (“It’s lovely once you’re in!” And indeed it is – like silk on your skin) – this is our Saturday morning.
For the moment, day to day life is on hold. Now is the time. All important. I try to take snapshots in my mind as my camera lies, forgotten on my bed. So I watch and make memories instead.
Golden beach, turquoise sea, sails and waves, chocolate. What better way to spend a Saturday morning?
Oh, yes! But there is one more thing that adds to the sheer pleasure of this Saturday morning. The discovery of a well-stocked library! Now I know this is a heavenly morning! A gift!
Thank you, Lord. So many delights in a space of minutes. But such are my memories tucked into my mind.
And next time I will take my camera too. Bless you, Lord. Simple pleasures given by a generous God.
Wow, wish I was there! Beautiful sensory picture. Love it.
