Simon Peter and another disciple were following Jesus. Because this disciple was known to the high priest, he went with Jesus into the high priest’s courtyard, but Peter had to wait outside the door. The other disciple who was know to the high priest came back, spoke to the servant girls on duty there and brought Peter in. John 18:15-16
Today you are invited to consider what you would have done : if you were John would you have followed Jesus into the courtyard, leaving Peter outside? Would you have made the same arrangements John did to fetch Peter; or would you have hung around outside with Peter, too afraid to go in? If you were Peter would you have gone into the courtyard anyway, whatever the consequences, or waited hoping for permission to enter, or gone home? Why do you think you would have acted this way? What do you want to say to Jesus about this – and what does He reply?
May God bless you with courage to follow Him … anyway.
