Meanwhile, the high priest questioned Jesus about His disciples and His teaching. “I have spoken openly to the world” Jesus replied. “I always taught in synagogues or at the temple, where all the Jews come together. I said nothing in secret. Why question Me? Ask those who hear Me. Surely, they know what I said.” John 18:19-21

Today you are invited to consider Jesus’ response to the high priest’s questioning. How do you respond to antagonistic questioning? Do you go on the defensive or are you able to respond calmly? What makes you react in this way? What would you have thought if you had been in that room listening to the conversation? What would you have done as you heard Jesus being questioned? Do your answers make you uncomfortable or are you at peace with them? Speak to Jesus about your feelings. Listen for His reply.

May God bless you with the ability to deflect an argument with a gentle answer.
