So Pilate came out to them and asked, “What charges are you bringing against this man?” “If He were not a criminal,” they replied, “we would not have handed Him over to you.” Pilate said “Take Him yourselves and judge Him by your own law. “But we have not right to execute anyone,” they objected. This took place to fulfill what Jesus had said about the kind of death He was going to die. John 18:29-32
Pilate and the Jewish leaders were keen to pass the buck to one another. Today you are invited to consider when that has happened in your life, either because you pointed to another for an event, or because you had to carry the blame. How do you feel about that incident now? What do you need to say to Jesus about it? How does He reply? What would you have done or said if you had been there in Pilate’s courts at that time?
