“… it is your custom for me to release to you one prisoner at the time of the Passover. Do you want me to release ‘the king of the Jews’?” They shouted back “No, not Him! Give us Barabbas!” Now Barabbas had taken part in an uprising. John 18:39-40
With hindsight it is easy to know how we would have answered Pilate’s question. Today you are invited to consider how you would have responded knowing what the people gathered there knew. Would you have had the courage to be a lone voice shouting for Jesus? What would it mean to you to stand in silence and let the crowd’s voice drown out your own feelings. What does it mean today when you know what they are demanding is the wrong way. What is Jesus saying to you at this time?
May Jesus give you courage to speak out against the crowd when you hear His voice leading you to do so.
