... and (Pilate) went back inside the palace. “Where do You come from?” he asked Jesus but Jesus gave him no answer. “Do you refuse to speak to me?” Pilate said. “Don’t you realize I have power either to free you or to crucify you?” Jesus answered, “You would have no power over Me if it were not given to you from above.” John 19:9-11

Today you are invited to consider power. What power do you have? How did you attain this power – through your position in the family, through hard work and promotion, through expertise? How do you exercise this power? Do you believe you earned it or that it has been given to you by God? If the latter, is God pleased with the way you use your power? Speak to Jesus about this today. Ask Him to show you where you may be abusing your power; where you neglect to use it – or where you may be wielding it unfairly. Then ask Him what you are doing with the power He has given you that pleases Him. Listen. What does He say to you – and what changes, if any, do you need to make?
