Lord, where are You this morning?
I have been calling, calling,
But there is no reply.
I am in crisis, Lord and I need You so much.
I can’t hear You, Lord.
I have searched Scripture for a Word from You,
I have listened to the birds and sought Your comfort in creation,
But there is nothing, nothing from You.
I do not believe You have deserted me at this time.
You have promised You will never leave me.
I do not believe that You don’t care, for You love me so much
That You hung on a cross and died for me.
But why have You turned away?
There is nothing, nothing. No sound, no Word, no encouragement.
In disappointment and defeat I stop my frantic seeking.
I sigh and start my car to do what I must do,
And as I do the radio comes on and I hear
The voice of an angel singing,
‘The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want …’
She sings of peace and companionship
Of protection and rest;
The volume swells as she tells of courage and abundant provision
And fades as she sings of life and hope for eternity
For the one for whom the Lord is Shepherd.
I close my eyes and listen.
You peace seeps through every part of me.
Here is Your Word to me today.
I heard Your voice the instant I stopped my frantic seeking.
Forgive me, Lord, for not remembering You speak to us
In the silence.
You are my Shepherd – that’s all I want.
Seeking God
