Discovering Hope

God is here. Right here.

Some of you may know this already, sensing Jesus with you. Others may dismiss the idea as rubbish. But I know He is here with me at all times.

Going into the operating theatre for a small procedure under local anaesthetic I was angry with God. I was alone and I was afraid. I knew it was a routine procedure but it was still scary, facing the unknown. And as I called His name, in anger and fear. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, I suddenly knew I was not alone and there was nothing to fear. The awareness of His presence was overwhelming and I relaxed and coped with all that lay ahead of me in a state of complete calm.

I know I do not have to be alone. In lockdown – six weeks now in South Africa – I can honestly say I am not lonely. If I feel alone I whisper His name, Jesus, and His presence is instantly tangible. When I am concerned about the economy and how it will affect my future – indeed everyone’s future – I whisper His name and His reassurance gives me peace. I may have big problems ahead – but my God is even bigger than any problem I will ever face. And He is here.

He can be here for you too. Whatever you are facing at this moment in time, whisper His name. Jesus, Jesus. He is here, with you, just waiting for you to call. Please don’t struggle on alone. You don’t need to. Jesus is waiting. Call on Him and let Him help you to cope with the changes in your life.

Here are some Scriptures to ponder:

Matthew 28:20  “… and surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

John 14:16 “I (Jesus) will ask the Father, and He will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever – the Spirit of truth.”

2 Thessalonians 3:16 Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.

Hebrews 13:5-6 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”

Thanks Mandy. So enjoyed this article. It is so true and yet here are times we forget that Jesus is right there beside us all the time. Lots of love. Shelley
