Have you looked at a feather recently? Or the skeleton of a leaf? Or an ant? Have you really looked.
What about the colours in the sky when the sun peeps through a hole in the clouds? Or the wheat rippling in the wind just before harvest? Or seen the shadow and light on the ground as you walk through a wood on a sunny day? Or the colours of pebbles on a beach?
Have you heard the pigeons cooing on the roofs around you in the city? Or watched the neighbours’ dog as she is taken for a walk in the park? Or seen a sparrow sing in the early morning?
Have you stopped to wonder at the variety of shapes and sizes; colours and textures; life forms and geology?
Wood and stone; water and mist; warmth and snow; light and dark.
This is our Creator God. This breath-taking imagination. This superb artistry. He twirled the horns of a kudu, painted the feathers of a kingfisher, lit the sun, shaped the mountains, moulded a baby. He designed the patterns on a tree trunk, fashioned the hide of a rhino, and raised the mountain ranges.
God’s love shines brightly in the variety of His creation. The splendour of the stars, which He holds in the palm of His hands, and the intricacy of a bee’s wings, fashioned out of lace.
Do you know your Creator God? He made each one of us in His own image to love and worship Him. Next time you see something that takes your breath away for its beauty, please worship God our Creator – for He made it just for you.
Scriptures to ponder:
Genesis 1:11, 12 The God said, ‘Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds. And it was so … and God saw it was good.
Genesis 1:24, 25 And God said, ‘Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.’ and it was so … and God saw it was good.
Psalms 147:4 (The Lord) determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.
Genesis 1:27, 31 So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them … God saw all that He had made, and it was very good.
