I have to write it again. To tell the world again. To shout it from the roof tops, call it down the hillside, declare it in the town squares.
God. Is. Love.
God loves you! God loves me!
How can you be so sure, I hear you ask. Well, here is a little story that happened to me this last week that shows how I know God is love.
But first let me ask you a question. If you are a parent or grandparent, an uncle an aunt or even and older brother or sister, what would you do in this situation?
A small child whom you know and love in your family is sad. Perhaps they have fallen over. Maybe they are lost. Or possibly one of their friends has been unkind. You see the child with tears in her eyes. She is not crying, she is just not happy. What do you do?
Wouldn’t you go to her, bend close to her, perhaps put your arm around her and pull her onto your knee? Wouldn’t you speak words of comfort to her and tell her that you love her?
Last week I was that child. I felt sad. Lockdown has been long. Work was hard. I had lost motivation and it was a struggle. My blog seemed to be demanding too much from me. I didn’t tell anyone.
But God knew. And He sent me a message through a friend who reads each post I put out. She told me what the posts mean to her, how relevant they are for her, somehow, how God uses them to bless her. She blessed me with words of love. And I knew, because she told me, that her words were from God Himself.
And I felt like that little child on a parent’s knee, wrapped in my Father’s arms, hearing His gentle voice whispering words of encouragement and comfort. And my heart warmed, and I felt happier than I have for a while.
Because our God is love. He does not just love us – He is love. He loves me – and He loves you.
Do you know the love of God? He is waiting to show you just how much He loves you if you ask Him to do so.
So there you go. I feel even better now that I have told you.
God. Is. Love.
And to my friend – thank you – may God bless you with so much love too.
