How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Psalm 119:103

Virus, vaccination, co-morbidity, ICU, lockdown … Brexit. All these are words that are flooding our lives at the moment – words we did not use very much this time last year (with the possible exception of Brexit in some areas of the world).

As you stand at the dawn of 2021 what is your prayer? What is the longing of your heart? What is your song? How do the Words of God sound in comparison with the words listed above? Do God’s Words drown out the sounds of the world? Or does the world drown out the Words of God? Where is your focus directed?

Take time today, or in the next few days to speak to God about these things. God’s Word is sweet to the taste. But the world’s words are bitter, sour, and speak of dark times. How can God help you to turn your focus back to Him in 2021? What do you need? Tell Him. Ask Him. Listen to Him. Run to Him.

The world will drown Him out if you let it. Turn off the switch and tune in to God’s word so you can hear His voice loud and clear as you start to walk into the new year.

May 2021 be a time of great blessing for you when you encounter Jesus Christ in new ways, when your prayers are answered in God’s way and time, and when those for whom you have been praying to turn to Jesus, do just that in the days ahead. Just as 2020 has been a year of the world’s words, may 2021 be the Year of the Lord for you.

God bless you
