Jesus returns to Nazareth after His time in the desert and there He reads from the scroll of Isaiah when He is in the synagogue.

The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because he has anointed Me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind., to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour. Luke 4:18-19

Today you are invited to consider what Jesus is saying to you through these words. How are you carrying on His work as a member of His Church in your world today? Where do you proclaim good news, encourage people to turn to Jesus so they are free of the baggage of their past and help them to see who Jesus is? How do you see your role in Christ’s Church today? Ask Him if you are not sure and listen for His reply.
