Simon had put down his nets at Jesus’ instruction – and come up with an enormous catch! He asks Jesus to go away as he, Simon, is a sinful man. Jesus replies:

Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people. Luke 5:10

Today you are invited to consider what these words mean to you. What does it mean ‘to fish for people’? How do you, as a 21st century follower of Jesus Christ, do this? Who are you fishing for at the moment? Where are you fishing? Spend some time praying for that person or those people, asking God to draw them closer to Him so they may accept Him as their Saviour. What is Jesus saying to you today in regard to where, how and who to fish for?
