Four men brought their paralysed friend to Jesus and had to let him down through the roof to get him close to the Lord. They expected Him to heal their friend. Instead He said something strange to the man lying on the floor in front of Him:
Friend, your sins are forgiven. Luke 5:20
Today you are invited to consider what Jesus is saying to you. When did you last confess your sins? What sin may you be carrying around that burdens you and holds you back from doing what you would like to do, or achieving what you would like to achieve? What is Jesus saying to you today, through these words? Look at Jesus. Ask Him to show you His eyes. What do you see there? How will you respond? If Jesus forgives you – and He died so you may be forgiven – this opens the door for you to forgive yourself – or others if you have been hurt by other people. What will you say to Jesus today in response to these words?
May you know that you know your sins are forgiven, for Jesus died for you! And may the freedom this knowledge brings be a blessing for you today and always.
