Jesus met a funeral procession on His way into Nain. A widow was burying her only son.
As He approached the town gate a dead person was being carried out – the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her. When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, ‘Don’t cry.’ Luke 7:12-13
Today you are invited to consider what is making you cry. There are so many tears at this time of pandemic. It is rare to meet someone who has not had a friend or family member affected by this disease. Listen to Jesus’ words today: ‘Don’t cry.’ Let them sink into your mind, heart and soul. What do they mean to you? What effect do His presence and His concern have on you and the way you feel. Listen. Listen. Open yourself to His comfort. Respond if you want to, but just let His words soak into your whole being. ‘Don’t cry’.
May you know the comfort and peace Jesus offers all of us today.
