Jesus was telling the parable of the four soils. Here is His explanation of the second scenario.

Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root.They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away. Luke 8:13

Today you are invited to consider those people whom you know for whom this is true. Ask God to bring them to your mind. Pray for them that the seed which was sown in the past may at last take root and grow. Ask God to draw them closer to Himself and to speak to them so they may meet Jesus as their Saviour and Lord. Remember, you may not know that this has happened in their lives so pray for all the people who come to mind today.
