When Jesus and His disciples reached the other side of the lake they were met by a man who was demon-possessed. The demons recognised Jesus immediately and begged Him not to torture them. Jesus asked them a question that would have made sense to the Jews with Him for it was the Jewish belief that a person’s name described the person. Jesus asked:
‘What is your name?’ Luke 8:30
Today you are invited to consider your own name. Not necessarily the one you were given at birth, but the ‘name’ that describes you. How would you describe yourself to someone who does not know you? What would you say first? What does this description say about how you feel about yourself? What is Jesus saying to you about who He sees you are. Ask Him. Listen to Him. How does His view of you differ from your own? Be careful that you do not reject His words. Sometimes we are slow to see the good in ourselves. Open your heart to Jesus today and let Him tell you who you are to Him.
May God bless you with His love today, and may you begin to see yourself through His eyes, for you are a beloved child of God.
