Herod had beheaded John, and now wanted to see Jesus for himself as he had heard the stories about Him. But Jesus took His disciples, when they returned to Him, to a quiet place. But the crowds followed them. In the evening, the disciples went to Jesus and suggested He send the people away to find food and lodging for the night. But He said to them:
‘You give them something to eat.’ Luke 9:13
Today you are invited to consider what you would have said in response to Jesus’ words. Maybe you have a little something for your own family – whether food or transport or work or love. But here is Jesus saying to you, ‘You give them something …’ How do you feel about sharing the little you have? How do you feel if you think you should because Jesus is asking you to do so, but don’t because it doesn’t make sense or the thought of having even less frightens you? What do you want to say to God about these things today. Be honest with Him. Tell Him how you feel and listen for His reply. What will you do now?
May God bless you with faith in Him, Jehovah Jireh, your Provider.
