A man came to Jesus to ask Him to act as a mediator between him and his brother over a dispute about their inheritance. Jesus asked him who appointed Him (Jesus) as the arbiter between them, then continued:
Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions. Luke 12:15
Today you are invited to consider everything you own. How important are your possessions and your wealth to you? How would you feel if it was all stripped away? What do you have that is in excess of your needs? What is your source of security in regard to the provision you need for your future years? What is God saying to you today through this verse? Ask Him to show you what place your possessions take in your life. Listen for His reply. What action, if any, do you need to take as a result of your conversation with Him today?
May God bless you with open hands and a generous heart as you turn to Him for your security in life.
