Peter asks Jesus who He is talking to specifically. Jesus gives him two scenarios – the servant who is ready when the master returns and the servant who abuses those who answer to him because of the master’s delay. He then goes on to describe the master’s response to both servants. For the faithful and wise manager:

The master will pub him in charge of all his possessions. Luke 12:44

But for the one who abuses his fellow servants

The master will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the unbelievers. Luke 12:46

Today you are invited to consider these two responses. Which servant do you relate to? How are you waiting for the return of Jesus? What are you doing to prepare for this moment? Are you ready? Are you alerting others? Why/why not? Or do you not give the matter much thought? Why/why not? What is God saying to you today through these verses? How will you respond?

May God bless you with open eyes, an open heart and a willing spirit as you await His return.
