The religious leaders continued trying to trap Jesus. This time they asked Him about paying taxes to Caesar and whether it was right to do so. Jesus asked them to show Him a coin and when they did He asked whose picture was on it. They replied Caesar’s picture. Jesus said
Then give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s. Luke 20:25
Today you are invited how you would divide your possessions. What is yours? What belongs to others (because you have borrowed something or borrowed the money to purchase it)? What belongs to God? Why do you decide this answer in this way? What do the things you have been considering mean to you? What do they mean to others? What do they mean to God? How would you feel if the lender were to ask for the return of all the things they had a right to for they had provided the funds; how would you feel if God asked you for the return of all the stuff you feel belongs to Him? How would you feel if He demanded everything back? What is God saying to you today?
May God bless you with a new perspective on what is ‘yours’ and what is ‘His’ today.
