When Peter saw (the disciple Jesus loved) he asked, ‘Lord, what about him?’ Jesus answered, ‘If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow Me.’ John 21:21-22
Today you are invited to consider how the ministries and successes (or, perhaps, failures) of other Christ-followers affect you. How do you feel when someone succeeds whilst you struggle; or when you succeed and another does not? What effect does it have on you when you see someone doing something you wish you could do but have never had the opportunity? (Not necessarily, in this case, a spiritual activity but secular ones too – playing the piano, cooking a superb meal etc). What part does jealousy play in your life? How often can you applaud another’s success? Share any struggles you may have in this regard with God today. Tell Him what it is you long to do – and listen for His reply. He may say yes, and open a door for you; He may say wait and ask you to take a seat; or He may say no and close any chance of your following that plan of action. Spend time talking to Him about His answer.
May God bless you as you strive to follow His plan rather than any plan of your own today.
