You pack. You sort of have an idea of what the weather will be like. So you put in summer clothes – t-shirts and shorts – shorts?
Hmm.
Oh well, okay one pair just in case it should be hot. You add a warm jersey and two light ones. It can be cool and a jersey can be cosy. Trousers, and jeans, a rainproof jacket.
And what about those two occasions when you need to dress the part – both so different they need separate outfits – and different shoes. And what if it is cool on those days? Maybe warmer outfits are in order too.
I sit on my suitcase and it closes at last. Within the weight allowance I set off.
And the weather for the whole time is in the 30’s. Hot, hot, hot. 37 degrees one day. The shorts are over-used. The warm jersey is not even removed from the bottom of the case. The raincoat sinks to the bottom of the cupboard.
It’s holiday! And the weather is glorious! What a gift. Thank you, Jesus!
