God’s gift to us never ceases to amaze me. It is a message that needs to be told and celebrated over and over again in different ways for different people. May it bless you as you read of it again today.
For You and Me
His coming was foretold in ages past
By God Himself, chastising Satan
As He slammed shut the gates of Eden.
His coming was foretold in times of gloom
By prophets bold, to God’s chosen ones;
And so they waited through the desperate days.
His coming was foretold to one young girl
By shining Gabriel in gentle voice
As she, in quiet humility, worshipped her God.
And so He came. The Promised One.
No King, no royal splendour,
But as a new-born babe
Born in a shack, and laid on prickly hay.
Some knew. Some recognised
The coming of the Promise
And witnessed God as Man walk on this earth.
But many of His chosen ones did not.
In stubbornness, mob-ruled, they cried ‘Crucify!’
And so He died. Hanging on a wooden cross.
Creation mourned the death of its Creator
And all the world stood still.
*****
Until the third day when death was vanquished,
Light filled the world and life returned in joy!
No Christmas babe, But God in all His splendour
For everyone who hears and bows the knee.
He came that Christmas day –
That you and I may live for all eternity.
He came to die – to offer up His life
Because He loves us deeply.
This new-born Babe, God as Man, risen Lord,
The Saviour of the world.
He came – for you and me.
THE WHOLE SALVATION STORY. INSPIRING.
